LO1: Ethical Issues

Ethical issues are problems what can be offensive, misleading and defamation.
Could contain Violence. Sex, Drugs and Alcohol- Post Watershed
Ethical Issues means doing the right/ moral thing.
  1. Freedom of speech V causing offence (i.e trolling, incitement not saying nice things about somebody or something, defamation)
  2. Use of disturbing imagery (explicit sex and violence)
  3. Use of offensive materials (Racism, Sexism/ Homophobia, Use of language i.e swearing)

Consequences

Being unethical in a media product:
  1. Could get fined
  2. Lawsuit/ court procedings
  3. Product could be banned, taken out of circulation
  4. Reputation of ones who are making the product
  5. Loss of business

Key Personnel In Media Industries

Key Personnel: Important job roles within the tree stages of production when creating media (People employed in the organisation)

3 Production stages:
  • Pre- production- All planning and drafting stages of a media product, creating the scripts, storyboards and schedule identifying necessary locations, props, cast members, costume and visual and special effects
  • Production- This includes all the actual making of the a media product. For example this will involve filming, photography, graphics and sound recording
  • Post- production- This includes any ways in which the media product is edited. Examples being use of CGI and special effects, digital manipulation, sub-editing processes(Proof read) and audio editing techniques
