  1. A site structure diagram is a pre production technique used to plan the layout of a website, games and apps. "A diagram that represents the navigation for the end user when using an interatcive product"
  2. Media products they use site structure diagrams for is a computer programmer/coder. Needs to have instructions on how the end user is going to use it (audience)
  3. Navigation means how we get around something to different places- hyperlinks, buttons,
  4. The end user would be the audience
If I have to draw a site strucutures diagram in the exam the annotations should include:
  • Why are the main pages included- how they are linked to the scenario/ brief
  • What the hyperlinks are for and where they will take the audience
  • Explain how pages are linked together- end user
Interactive feautures would be on each page (photos/videos/ sounds)- Linked to the brief
Examples of how the layout and features would appeal too the target audience
How the brand will be the same across all pages (colours/layout)

LO3: Research

1. Research takes place in pre production, it is done then because this is before they make the acual product so need to research everything about it like budget/profit

2. The two methods of collecing research are primary and secondary. Primary reseach is like a questionnaire. Secondary reserach would be an article/journal.

Types of Research

  • Audience Research is seeing what the audience would like based on their lifestyle, likes and dsilikes etc based on demographics(age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality)
  • Market Research is seeing whats on the market and what isnt, if theres any gap in the market to produce a new product. Looking at competetors can we provide something they cant do
  • Product Research is researching anything about the product what you are making, like similar ones what have been succesful on the market and ones what havent.
  • Open ended questions you get very detailed answers, forces you to say why so it helps you improve your product however can be time consuming as a weakness so harder to compare answers.
  • Closed quesions is easy and quick to analyse the information however it doesnt give you much information no oppurtunity to explain.
